5 C’s of Growing a Successful Business

There are many things that you have to keep in mind when you are working on building and growing a successful business. These 5 C’s are easy to remember, and important to have your team understand. Getting everyone at your company on the same page and in the same mindset is what being a successful team is about.

1. Communication

Communication is an important factor in any type of business. It is important to have good communication with your customers, and it is also equally important to have good internal communication with the different teams that make up your staff.

Everyone that is part of the team within any company should understand the importance of good communication. When there are communication breakdowns problems tend to arise very quickly, and this makes good communication a very important piece of the puzzle.

2. Consistency

Consistency is another essential factor to keep in mind when starting and growing a business. It is important in all aspects of the business, from the brand logo and website to the products and services that are offered by the company.

The way that you talk to customers, and write on your website and social media platforms should be consistent. To keep the consistency intact you do not want to have too many cooks in the kitchen, because too many cooks makes it hard to stay on the same page.

3. Creativity

This is another important element of business, and no matter what you do in your business, creativity is needed at some level. This could be getting creative with your marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness, or if you are a design firm the whole business is based on being creative.

Being creative and thinking outside the box is necessary to make your brand stand above the competition.

4. Customer Service

Customer service is more important now than it has ever been before. Stories of both good and bad customer service can be seen all over social media. With the internet the word can spread quickly if you do not treat your customer’s right. It has become such an important factor that it can literally kill a small growing business very quickly.

Treating your customers the way you want to be treated should be the goal with your customer service representatives every day.

5. Customer Retention

No business wants to lose customers, especially customers that have been with the company for a while and are lost to silly, preventable mistakes. Mistakes do happen though, no matter how hard you try to avoid them, it is still inevitable that they will happen once in a while. The key to retain your customers following a mistake is to get it resolved quickly so you can keep the customer happy.

Customer retention involves some of the other C’s mentioned in this post, specifically good communication and customer service. Creativity may also come into play here in trying to appease an upset customer in the best way possible without causing any further damage.
