The Label Industry May Help The FDA Take On The Tobacco Industry!
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been fighting the tobacco industry for years. Recently the FDA has stepped up the fight against these tobacco industry giants by shifting their focus.
First, the FDA wanted to utilize the label industry by having tobacco companies post graphic images of individuals facing extreme health issues, as they battle what their tobacco addiction has done to their lives.
Now, the FDA has turned to the label industry yet again to battle the tobacco industry. Instead of focusing all of their attention on labeling products like cigarettes and chewing tobacco, they’ve turned their focus to products that help consumers quit.
Under the new law, the FDA says that users of smoking-cessation products such as Nicorette gum are going to be able to use the products longer and in combination with other therapies.
These new changes require the help of the label industry. Labels stating the recommended time customers can use specific products are going change along with the labeling changes that are going to be made to the back of each product where it states which other therapies customers can pair that smoking-cessation product with.
Also, products like Glaxo and other manufacturers of over-the-counter nicotine-replacement products are now able to seek new labels that are going to allow customers to continue smoking when they first start their treatments.
The FDA is hoping that by allowing customers to use smoking-cessation products longer and by pairing therapies together, they are going to be able to fight the tobacco industry from another angle.
