Latest Label Industry News: Aiding the Fight Against Prescription Painkillers
It’s been all over the news, in the papers and on the radio. There has been an increase in the number of people who have been abusing prescription painkillers. Doctors have been trying to come up with a solution to this problem and their latest idea… a change to the current labeling application!
Normally, a label on a prescription medication includes the user’s name, date of birth and information regarding the prescribed dosage.
FoxNews.com states in an article that these new labels would add a maximum daily dose, as well as the hourly rate at which these painkillers should be taken. The new labeling would not limit how doctors prescribe prescriptions rather instead stop pharmaceutical companies from promoting these drugs for uses they have not yet been approved for.
Not only could the new labeling idea affect doctors, patients, and pharmacies, but also the labeling industry as a whole. What was considered the standard label for pill bottles before may need to change in the future! There is more to talk about regarding this, but one thing may be for certain: the labeling of these products may aid in the on-going fight to help stop the illegal usage of prescription drugs.
