Looking For A Shiny Dependable Label? Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester Material May Be Perfect For You!

October 11, 2012

The Crystal Clear Gloss Laser Polyester Weatherproof material is a member of the polyester family. This specific material is great for most of your application needs! Let’s breakdown what each part of the title Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester Laser Weatherproof material actually means:

Starting with crystal clear, that describes the color of the label. The material is actually perfectly clear until printed on. This allows for the label to blend in with most background surfaces that it is applied to. This material is kind of like the chameleon of the polyester family, easily adapting to the background on which it is placed.

Now, let’s move onto the word “gloss”. Gloss is a term used in the label industry. Gloss simply means a shiny finish. This can be easily compared to finishes on a photograph. Photos that have a glossy finish are shiny and tend to reflect light. The clear glossy finish of these labels look great on most wine bottles and even fish tanks!

The next word in the title is “laser”. Laser simply refers to the type of printer this material should be run through. Laser printers actually use a powder called toner. The toner contains a special wax that melts and dries in seconds. Laser printing actually infuses the color directly into the material.

“Weatherproof” means that these materials hold up well against outdoor elements like rain. An average life expectancy of these weatherproof materials is approximately 2 years when used outdoors, but can vary.

Another fun fact about the Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester Laser Weatherproof material is that it is tear resistant. This is great for labeling products located outdoors or even wine bottles!

The Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester Laser Weatherproof material has a permanent adhesive meaning that once it has been applied to a surface it should stick to it without any problems. Like all of our materials, the Crystal Clear Gloss Weatherproof material is available in many different shapes and sizes.

We would love to see any pictures you have of your Crystal Clear Gloss Laser Weatherproof labels in action. Feel free to share these pictures with us on our Facebook or Twitter pages! Or, if you love your labels and would like to write a Testimonial, we would love to read it!

I would like to know if this product would be good to use on glasses, mugs, etc. I have found inks, paints, etc. to be unacceptable for use on nonporous glass as they either rub off, scratch off, or fade easily. Is Crystal Clear dishwasher safe, or would hand washing be required. Thanks for your help.

Hello, I have a few questions about this product actually. I work with a lot of glassware and need to see through, so this product sounds great, but I need to replace the labels from time to time when contents change, do you know how easily the adhesive removes from glassware? If not so easily, is there any way to get a lighter "removable" adhesive instead of the general purpose permanent? Another question I have is chemical resistance, do you know how well it stands up to different types of solvents? Thanks for the help!

I make decorative wooden boxes and I would like to use an actual clear label but I'm nut sure if a square, oval or round would look best for my label. I have different sizes I use so a full sheet would also be used. I was wondering if they would adhere to an oil-based stain. Also, I seal my boxes with a spray glaze by Rustoleum. Would they shrivel, shrink or deform in any way? I look forward to your answer. Thanks for your time and the samples.

I am making beer bottle labels. I cant tell if the weatherproof means that the inkjet laser ink will stay put on the label I design and print onto these if it is submerged in water (like an ice chest) or if the ink will still run off of these labels, and the label itself is what is weatherproof?
Reply
Lindsey Rice on Jan 20, 2014 in 08:50am
That's a great question, Holly. Our Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester label material is weatherproof. These labels are also compatible with laser printers. Laser printers use toners, which are powders. These powders heat up and fuse into the material. Since the toner is fused into the material, you should not experience any runs. If you're worried about the labels having runs you could always adhere the printed label onto the bottle and add a blank Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester label over the printed label as an extra layer.

I am looking for clear labels for addressing my daughter's wedding invitations. I want them to be compatible with laser printing, as this type of printer generally creates much cleaner, richer images than inkjet. Finding truly clear laser labels in full sheets has proven to be difficult. Are these labels suitable for envelopes? I will also be cutting them, and have the same question as another poster about how difficult it would be to peel them after cutting. A sample would be useful, if that is possible. Also, it would probably be more helpful to people if you answered their questions here rather than always sending an email as there are bound to be duplicate questions. I was hoping to get some answers by reading this page, but few of the answers are actually here.

Lindsey Rice on Mar 31, 2014 in 04:06pm
Thank you for your question and suggestion, Josette. Our Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester labels have a permanent adhesive that is great for paper or in this case for using on envelopes. If you are going to be doing the cutting, I would suggest ordering one of our labels with a vertical slit to make peeling the label easier after you've cut them. I want to let you know that we do sell printed, cut down labels and we use laser printers. We always recommend requesting samples as you can test these labels and make sure they work for your needs!

I need to print labels for plastic (PET) spice bottles. I have an inkjet printer. I'm thinking I'll print on the premium white uncoated inkjet labels, then place a blank Crystal Clear label (of the same size) over top that label. Will that make it waterproof? Or do I need to use a weatherproof inkjet label underneath the Crystal Clear label? Am I on the right track in stacking these labels? HELP! Thank you!
Reply
Lindsey Rice on Apr 30, 2014 in 09:04am
You brought up some good points and asked some great questions, Sandy. The trick to using any inkjet material is to wait until the ink is dry to apply the labels. Our Premium White Uncoated Permanent label material is a paper material so it’s not waterproof. Applying a Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester label over the Premium White Uncoated Permanent material will not make it weatherproof. There is still a crack or space between the two labels and liquid will find its way between them. If you don’t mind changing the label material, you could order our Vinyl Inkjet Weatherproof material.

I'm looking for the proper label material to use on amber glass bottles that will have essential oils and/or herbs in them. I would like glossy, but more importantly if the label is oil resistant, that would be great. Is the best option your weatherproof or vinyl label?
Reply
Lindsey Rice on Jun 3, 2014 in 11:57am
That’s a great question, Lisa. I know you are looking for a gloss label material to use on amber glass bottles. Our Crystal Clear Gloss Polyester labels have a clear, gloss surface. In our experience we’ve noticed that artwork and text can be hard to see when printed on the Crystal Clear labels and applied to a dark surface. We do however have a new product called White Gloss Polyester Laser Weatherproof. We strongly recommend requesting samples of this product to test on your essential oil bottles before placing your order. I am going to send you an email so that you can send us your shipping information.

What I plan to do is print blocks of color on the sheet and then have them kiss cut so that the client can apply the labels directly to their storefront window. My guess is that I will need 25-50 sheets 8.5 x 11 for testing but if you feel that less is more than I will take your advice. Please send me some samples. I look forward to hearing back from you. Also, please send a cost for 250 sheets (8.5 x 11) We will run this through a Konika digital press.

I'm interested in your labels as short, pre-cut pieces of polyester tape. I make sparkleballs that are made of styrene cups (sparkleball.com). I want to try taping them together with your crystal clear and matte labels. Would it be possible to get some samples in 3/8" height and at least 1" wide. I tried ordering polyester tape, but it's expensive and hard to come by in less than a case. I did order two rolls, but when they came the adhesive was out of date and would not adhere well to clean glass or plastic. Package tape holds well but the backing is not tear resistant and it's hard to cut thin strips off the roll of 2" wide tape.
