Black Friday: Millions Of Individuals Visit Their Favorite Retail Stores To Participate In Black Friday Shopping
Thanksgiving is a holiday known for delicious food, great friends, football and of course, family. After a long day of preparing a large meal, some individuals pack it in for the night and set their alarms for the early morning hours in hopes of scoring the best Black Friday deals!
Black Friday is always on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Stores open earlier than ever and slash prices, give away gifts and bring in a whole lot of money! In 2011, 226 million individuals participated in Black Friday shopping. That number grew in 2012 to a whopping 247 million individuals.
In 2011, the average amount spent per individual on Black Friday was $398 totaling 52.4 billion dollars! Again, those numbers grew in 2012 with customers spending on average, $423 that totaled over 59 billion dollars!
Not only are people camping outside their favorite retail stores but, some customers are even scoring great deals online on Black Friday! The top five visited online retailers on Black Friday for 2012 were:
- Amazon.com (7.7 million)
- Walmart.com (3.5 million)
- Best Buy (2.75 million)
- Target (2.25 million)
- Apple (1.5 million)
Black Friday can mean early morning hours, long lines and crowds of people, but for some it’s when they start and finish their holiday shopping. People love scoring great deals and saving money!
