Advertising On Social Media Is Great For Businesses, Their Products & Potential Customers!

Advertisements have become part of our day-to-day lives. We see billboards, television commercials advertising hundreds of different products and even advertisements on our social media pages. We hear radio commercials advertising local businesses, advertisements on our Pandora stations and even commercials advertising specific products during online radio shows.

Though we may see and hear hundreds of advertisements each day, we tend to forget the advertisements without a cute animal, witty child, catchy song or funny punch line. But, there are a few ways that businesses can target their online, social media advertisements to be more easily remembered by customers.

The five ways that businesses can use advertisements on social media to gain more customers are:

  1. Tell a story
  2. Use videos
  3. Be honest
  4. Encourage user product reviews
  5. Call to action

The first key is to tell a story. With hundreds of thousands of advertisements circulating through the World Wide Web, businesses can’t do enough to be memorable. But, telling a story is a great first step. Associate your products in a way that tugs at the emotions of your customers. Talk about how your products can benefit the lives of working families or small business owners. Storylines allow customers to put themselves into that story and see how your products can truly impact their lives.

The second key is to use videos. If pictures are worth a thousand words then videos are worth a million. Uploading fun, informative videos to your social media sites gives customers something to look at. Maybe a customer doesn’t have time to request samples of your products and wait for the samples to be delivered but they do have time to watch a thirty second video of how-to use your products.

The third key is to be honest. Honesty from a company helps businesses gain life-long, loyal customers. When advertising products, especially on a public website such as Facebook, be sure that what you’re saying about your product is true. If you advertise a product as being weatherproof, that product needs to be able to withstand liquid! Being honest in turn drives consumers to purchase your products!

The fourth key is to encourage user product reviews. With social media websites being as popular as they are with over 1 billion Facebook users and Twitter and LinkedIn users increasing each day, product reviews by customers are extremely important. When you advertise a product on a social media website you’re opening the door for customer reviews. Customer reviews are the best form of free advertising out there.

The fifth and final key is the call to action. When advertising, even on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Pinterest, always be sure to include a call to action. Having your company website address and phone number located on your social media website account page makes ordering products even easier for customers. Customers like ordering products efficiently and having the necessary tools at hand in order to place an order or call your Customer Service team with a question, puts your business ahead of those who don’t!
